More than 200 cyclists are competing in Alfaz’s Cronoescalada(Mountain Bike Time Trial) this Sunday, January 19. The race will be run over 13-kilometres, crossing Albir and ascending to some of the highest points on the Sierra Helada over a route that is scenically beautiful but gruelling for the cyclists. Although this is only the Time Trial’s second edition, the race is now established on the Alicante province BTT mountain bike circuit, said Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques. Sports councillor Oscar Perez, also pointed out that the coming Time Trial has the backing of Paola Zahonera, one of the Valencian community’s most outstanding cyclists. The race, which has competitors of all ages and abilities from Alfaz and the Marina Baja, sets out from Hotel Albir Gardens at 9.30am, announced the president of Alfaz’s Club BTT, Jose Alfonso Espinosa.
