JAVEA RACE: More than 1,500 runners set out on the Volta Peu
MARIA ISABEL FERRER and Moha Rida Younes won the 31st edition of the Volta a Peu a Xabia race. More than 1,500 runners took part in the Volta, habitually the first of the annual Marina Alta circuit, and there were few surprises regarding the winners. Ferrer, who belongs to Javea’s Llebeig Athletics Club, dominated the 10-kilometre race throughout, finishing in 37 minutes, 05 seconds. She was followed by Esther Fiornes from CA Cametes (Pedreguer), while third place went to Sofia Booth, also from the Llebeig Club. Moha Rida Younes and Youssef Ahatch, both belonging to the Denia Correclub, took the lead from early on, with Rida Younes shaking Ahatach in the final kilometres, cross the line with a time of 32 minutes, 10 seconds to an ovation from the enthusiastic crowd.
