Aedas Homes has taken a new step in sustainable and environmentally friendly residential construction.

Working with Technal, a brand of the multinational group Hydro Building Systems, a leader in aluminium construction systems and after years of using 75 per cent recycled aluminium, the company is now going one step further and is developing the first housing development in Spain with 100 per cent post-consumer recycled aluminium (a material that has already had a previous life and is now being used again)

AEDAS Homes will incorporate this sustainable material, which comes from the circular economy, in the Soul Marbella Sunshine development, consisting of 50 homes of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms. 100 per cent recycled aluminium will be used in the profiles of all the façades.

“With this innovative initiative, AEDAS Homes is taking another step towards its ambitious objective to neutralise 50 per cent of the carbon footprint of its developments by 2030, promoting, in this case, the use of environmentally friendly materials”, said Luis García Malo de Molina, Operations Director of AEDAS Homes.

Technal’s aluminium, called CIRCAL, is the world’s first certified 100 per cent recycled aluminium and represents a completely new manufacturing process in Spain. It is estimated that its implementation in Soul Marbella Sunshine alone is equivalent in CO2 reduction to taking 30 cars off the road for their entire lifetime (100,000 km with an average emission of 10,300 tonnes of CO2, according to the European Environment Agency).
