CARNIVAL: Getting ready to party. Photo credit: Benidorm town hall
Euro Weekly News reported earlier about how blackouts affect areas of Torremolinos because the city had not paid their electrical bill to the Endesa. Now other citizens are affected by the economical crisis as well. The carnival competition that was supposed to take place on March 6-8 and March 13 in the Prince of Asturias auditorium, has been cancelled.
The total budget of the event, including the organization, and the prizes amounted to 15,000 euros.
Torremolinos instead focuses on the street activities on March 14-15, where there will be a children’s and adult’s costume contest in the San Miguel square on Saturday. A big party will be held in the same square.
On Sunday the celebrations move to la Carihuela, where there will be a parade and the traditional “Burning of the Sardine.”
