THE Anima Naturalis charity and pressure group in Spain has taken up the rights of seals, sea lions and penguins in a mini zoo in the city of Santander.
Many have been shocked by pictures of injured sea lions and penguins and in at least one case a dead seal wrapped in a rubbish bag whilst another is covered in moss floating in stagnant water.
Following their campaign, the matter is now before the Santander Council and the charity will be undertaking a review of the birds and sea creatures with a view to proving that they are neglected so that the animals may be removed to safe accommodation and the mini zoo closed down.
