The city of Marbella will receive 5 million euros from the European funds for sustainable tourism projects, such as improved energy efficiency at the convention centre. The city of Marbella will receive 5 million euros from the European funds for sustainable tourism projects, such as improving the energy efficiency at the convention centre, said the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés on February 8. Valdés made the announcement during a visit to the convention centre in Marbella, where he was accompanied by the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, and the sub-delegate of the Government in Málaga, Javier Salas. Valdés celebrated the fact that the European funds “are now a reality”, highlighting that they represent “a collaborative commitment to the transformation of our model of tourism”. He went on to say that the Costa del Sol city of Marbella “is beaches, but it is also mountains”, and it “has more to offer to national and international tourists than what they already know”. Specifically, one of the projects will involve the transformation of the convention centre (Palacio de Congresos) to make it become more energy-efficient, including the implementation of solar panels. The aim will be to make it “a building with zero consumption that can be self-sufficient in the field of energy”. ________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for taking the time to read this article, do remember to come back and check The Euro Weekly News website for all your up-to-date local and international news stories and remember, you can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
