Cycling race winner sees the funny side of gifts

Not every sport has success in finding the level or type of sponsorship they are looking for and cycling is no different, with the recent winner of the Tour de Friesland Chrono seeing the funny side in winning amongst other gifts, sex toys.

Dutchman Ellen van Dijk, six time world road cycling world champion, won the first leg of the race and received to her amusement a box of goodies.

Now she could have been offended by the box, which included a vibrator, lubricant, some socks, an eye mask, a pomez stone to polish the hardness of her feet and a deck of cards to play the Kama Sutra.

Van Dijk, who was presented the box on the podium, was not offended, far from it. She took it all in good spirits and went so far as to ask her followers on social media what they advised she should do with the gifts.

EasyToys.nl, the sponsoring company, have managed to get a lot more coverage than they expected, with the story around the box getting way more attention that the posters used to promote the store and its products.

Van Dijk . the stage winner sees the funny side and has made light of the sex toys gifts, which has brought a touch of humour to the gruelling race and certainly a lot more attention than the cyclists would traditional receive.
