Local festival celebrations are in full swing, and the beautiful mountain village of Benahavís is no exception.

From August 14 to 17, the village will come alive with its 2025 Fair and Festival, offering a packed programme of activities for everyone and for all ages. From children’s games and traditional events to live music, free local food samples, and colourful street dances, the four-day celebration will leave attendees with some unforgettable moments.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store:

Thursday, August 14: A grand opening

The festivities kick off at 9pm with the official inauguration and lighting ceremony led by the mayor, accompanied by the lively “Sí o Ke” brass band and a “Bugs”, a movie-themed parade. Partygoers will enjoy a complimentary drink at the fair’s entrance. At 8pm, the fairground rides open at the sports centre, with a noise-free period from 8pm to 9.30pm for children with sensory difficulties. The evening continues with a flamenco dance performance by Marta Álvarez’s Benahavís Flamenco Academy at 10.30pm in Plaza del Pilar, followed by the official proclamation by Guaraná singer Juan Ramón Arnaiz at 11pm. The night concludes with the crowning of the Children’s and Youth Queens, Ladies, and Kings of the 2025 Fair, hosted by Miguel Morito. Popular dances begin at 11.30pm in Avenida de Andalucía with the ALTAIR Orchestra, while Plaza de España hosts the La Tentación Orchestra and DJ David Acosta from midnight to 6am.

Friday, August 15: Fun for all the family and tradition

The daytime fair opens at 1pm with traditional children’s games, including drawing contests, clay crafts, and board games like ludo and dominoes, held at the social centre on Avenida de Andalucía. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. At 2pm, enjoy live music by Ana Soto and Amanda Liñan, coupled with free paella for all. From 4pm to 8pm, there will be inflatable slides, pools, and foam cannons to entertain kids and the kids at heart at the municipal practice tee. At 8pm, a Rociera Mass honours the town’s patron, Virgen del Rosario, followed by a procession with local authorities, queens, ladies, and the Jubrique Band. The night wraps up with more dances in Avenida de Andalucía (ALTAIR Orchestra, 10.30pm to 1.30am) and Plaza de España (La Tentación Orchestra and DJ Toni Solís, midnight–6am).

Saturday, August 16: Games and grills

The fun continues at 1:00 PM with children’s games like jump rope, sack races, and musical chairs in Avenida de Andalucía, with prizes for top mini athletes. At 2pm, a free barbecue feast, “Día de la Parrillada,” is served, accompanied by live music from Grupo Latidos until 7pm. Inflatable attractions and a mini-fair with games like darts and tin-can knockdown keep kids entertained from 4pm to 8pm. At 5pm, the traditional “bizcocho” game takes place near the municipal pool, followed by a 6pm snack featuring 60 kg of cake. Evening dances feature the ALTAIR Orchestra (10.30pm to 1.30am) and the Roma Orchestra with DJ Antonio Rodríguez in Plaza de España (11.30pm to 6am). A youth party with Europa FM DJs Roger Freedom and Bulma rocks Plaza del Pilar from midnight to 6am.

Sunday, August 17: A Grand Finale

The final day starts at 10am with the 46th “Trial de Feria” at the municipal sports centre. Children’s games, including water balloon battles and relay races, begin at 1pm. A special lunch for the elders of the village (retirees and pensioners) is held at 2pm in the municipal pavilion, alongside free tortilla and gazpacho samples with live music by Grupo Latidos. Inflatable attractions and the mini-fair return from 4pm to 8pm. At 4.45pm, the 2025 Fair’s Grandfather and Grandmother are announced, followed by a performance by the Ortigosa group. A traditional ribbon race takes place at 7pm, and “Children’s Day” offers discounted ride prices from 8pm. The fair wraps up with dances by the ALTAIR and Roma Orchestras, DJ Antonio Rodríguez, and a spectacular final fireworks display at 2am, in case anyone has to go to work in the morning.
