A massive fire tore through several businesses along Avenida Salvador Allende in Torremolinos in the early hours of Sunday, August 24, leaving establishments like Champagne Charlies, McGuire’s, Bailey’s, Wot You Like, and Curry Hut severely damaged or completely destroyed.
The blaze, described as “spectacular” by local authorities, caused significant property damage, but, fortunately, no personal injuries were reported. The rapid response of the Torremolinos fire brigade was credited with preventing any loss of life.
Mayor Margarita Del Cid addressed the incident in a statement, expressing relief that no one was harmed and outlining the town’s commitment to recovery efforts. “We have already contacted some of the owners and tenants to begin the reconstruction process as soon as possible,” Del Cid said.
Further details on the cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage are still under investigation. Authorities have promised to provide updates as more information becomes available.
