Sober Socials Costa del Sol is kicking off its first-ever event, Mocktail & Mingle, on Thursday, October 23, at 7.30pm at Panorama Beach Club in La Cala de Mijas.

The lively, clear-headed evening is part of Go Sober for October, a campaign supporting cancer awareness, and hopes to raise funds for the AECC (Spanish Association Against Cancer) for breast cancer initiatives.

Founded by local expats Emma Thorne Lees and Louise Hazleden, Sober Socials Costa del Sol is a new community for women seeking connections without the booze. The event invites those participating in Sober October, exploring a sober-curious lifestyle, or fully embracing sobriety to enjoy a night of inspiring conversations, community, and alcohol-free fun. “After a summer of cocktails and BBQs, Sober October is the perfect moment to pause and reconnect,” say Emma and Louise. “We’re creating a space where women can celebrate sobriety and feel uplifted.”

Those who attend can expect a lively atmosphere with mocktails, great company, and the added bonus of remembering the night clearly the next day. Tickets are €20 per person, including a mocktail and a donation to AECC, with limited spots available. Early booking is recommended via Instagram (@sobersocial.cds) or Facebook.

Louise says, “Feel the same joy already or fancy inspiration to ditch the booze? Come and connect with @sobersocials.cds. We have our first exciting social event here on the Costa del Sol Thursday 23rd October at the stunning Panorama Beach in La Cala de Mijas. Ladies, this event guarantees a feel good factor! 100 per cent social and 0 per cent percentage alcohol!”

Go Sober for October, launched by Macmillan Cancer Support in 2014, encourages a month-long break from alcohol to raise funds and awareness for cancer support while promoting health benefits like better sleep and more energy. The event combines a worthy cause with a fresh approach to socialising on the Costa del Sol.
