Fuengirola residents stand to benefit from much improved transport facilities following renewed collaboration between the local council and the Andalucian government.
Long-standing demand gains momentum
Things are moving ahead on the overhaul of Fuengirola’s bus station after recent high-level meetings. Mayor Ana Mula engaged with regional officials to expedite the tender process for a comprehensive redesign project. Authorities are prioritising this plan as a key response to persistent calls for modernisation from local public transport users.
Improvements target everyday convenience
Plans centre on transforming the existing site into a more functional space. Improved circulation will supply smoother traffic flow around the area, while new shaded zones will offer welcome relief during hot weather. Greater accessibility features help with easier navigation for all users in finding the right bus line and timetables, including those with mobility needs. Safety measures are receiving particular emphasis to create a safe environment for passengers arriving or departing.
Future location under consideration
Discussions are also under way for long-term relocation possibilities. Technicians are evaluating suitable land for a potential new station, which could dramatically elevate the current setup. Such a move would be better in line with Fuengirola’s situation as a bustling tourist destination, situated conveniently beside the train station yet requiring updates to match modern expectations.
Commitment to minimal disruption
Efforts are currently focusing on limiting inconvenience during any works, considering the nearby indoor market is still under construction. Officials hope to deliver an upgraded facility that complements the town’s revitalised image without prolonged disruption to nearby neighbourhoods. Mayor Mula stresses urgency, saying that competent regional authorities must deliver a fitting solution quickly.
The development is making a major step towards improved mobility in Fuengirola. Better bus services support daily commutes, tourism, and connectivity across the Costa del Sol. Residents await further updates as the project advances and concrete plans are emerging.
