Vespa enthusiasts across southern Spain can look forward to an unforgettable celebration as the Vespa Club Salobreña launches its first-ever Vespa Spring Party on Sunday, April 26. Organisers expect around 130 classic Vespas and Lambrettas to converge on the town, creating the largest scooter gathering yet seen on the south coast and promising a day of scenic rides, cultural discovery and warm camaraderie.
Event schedule unveiled for the landmark scooter rally
Registration opens at 8.30am in Plaza Juan Carlos I with a warm welcome for every arriving rider. Departure follows at 10.30am from Salobreña Town Hall as the colourful convoy heads towards the beach before sweeping along the Costa Tropical route. Riders will return to town around 12.30pm or 1pm, ready for the next highlight of this carefully planned adventure.
Historic castle tour adds cultural depth to the day
Participants will then explore the old town and enjoy a guided visit to the iconic Castillo de Salobreña. This guided route reveals the rich historical and architectural treasures of the ancient alcazaba, giving everyone a deeper appreciation of the region’s proud heritage while the beautifully restored scooters rest nearby.
Seafront display and beachside lunch create perfect photo finish
Classic machines line the seafront promenade in a dedicated display area, allowing locals and visitors alike to admire their timeless style and engineering excellence. The day ends with a lively communal lunch at a beach chiringuito, complete with a raffle offering the chance to win a fully restored vintage Vespa.
Local leaders hail boost for tourism and cultural pride
Antonio Rodríguez from the Council for Citizen Security praised such gatherings for energising community life and presenting Salobreña as an attractive, safe destination for tourists. Nelson Ligero, Councillor for Festivals, emphasised how classic scooter culture celebrates history, style and personality, positioning Salobreña as the ideal backdrop for this shared passion. Club representatives expressed huge enthusiasm, noting the overwhelmingly positive response and hoping the event becomes an annual tradition that places Salobreña firmly on the national vespa map.
Plenty of places remain for Vespa riders eager to join. Contact the club at vespaclubsalobrena@gmail.com or call 629 066 760 to secure a spot. This spring gathering will combine culture, leisure and tourism in the sunniest possible way, delivering an experience that residents and visitors will remember fondly for years to come.
