Javea is gearing up for a major milestone as the town prepares to celebrate the incredible 40th anniversary of its Música a l’Estiu, or Summer Music, festival, celebrating the classical music genre. Running from July 6 to July 10, 2026, this landmark edition of the music event brings a revamped format and an internationally renowned lineup to the Marina Alta region, offering five spectacular evening concerts that will be entirely free for the public to attend.
A revamped format for a historic milestone
The performances, which will take place at 9:00pm each night at either the Church of Sant Bertomeu or the surrounding Church Square, will expand the festival’s traditional focus and, this year, incorporate multiple musical specialties into the mix.
The programme: Wind quartets, legendary performers and strong voices
The opening night on Monday, July 6, will kick off with the prestigious Aulos Wind Quintet, featuring top soloists from the Spanish National Orchestra. The spectacle will continue on Tuesday, July 7, with a performance by the Leonor String Quartet, a highly versatile ensemble that will also lead a specialised three-day course during the festival.
A major draw of the event will take place on Wednesday, July 8, featuring the world-famous German Brass. Renowned for their virtuosity, this legendary German ensemble has revolutionized brass music over a 50-year career. Notably, this performance marks their first-ever appearance in the Marina Alta region and only a handful of visits to the Valencian Community, meaning that the performance is already highly anticipated by residents and visitors of the municipality.
Local talent will also take to the stage on Thursday, July 9, with the “Designation of Origin” concert by local musicians Óscar Rosa and Isabel Català, accompanied by pianist Vicent Sendra.
Finally, the long-awaited festival will come to a close on Friday, July 10, with Suhar Korua, an acclaimed male choir from the Basque Country. Thirty-one of the choir’s forty-two vocalists will fill the venue with their rich, expressive textures and blow audiences away.
Turning Javea into a classical music hotspot this summer
By blending local roots with world-class international acts, Javea’s 40th edition of Música a l’Estiu will cement the town’s reputation as a premier cultural destination for classical music lovers this summer.
