If you’ve been missing a proper splash of red-and-white fun with your pie and mash, you’re in luck as St George’s Day is bringing a celebration of lively, feel-good atmosphere to Benalmadena this Thursday, April 23, with an afternoon of music, food and family entertainment planned in the heart of Arroyo de la Miel.
The celebration will take place as in previous years in the Plaza de la Mezquita, where Benalmadena Town Hall has announced a festive programme starting from 12pm and continuing into the afternoon and evening. British residents, local neighbours and visitors will head to the plaza to enjoy a relaxed day celebrating England’s patron saint while also bringing together and highlighting the town’s international community spirit.
Bring your best British foot forward to Benalmadena for fun and festivities
The day will include live music throughout the afternoon, children’s entertainment and food will be a big part of the experience, with a variety of British classic favourites on offer, including options such as fish and chips and burgers. There are stalls and other bits and pieces to look at for anyone who fancies a browse between performances.
The promotional poster for the event lists entertainment running from 12pm until 8pm, with acts including Wayne Ward, Jai Northover, Gordon Williams, Cassie, Alarna Love, and The Landstrykers. The day also features ‘The Carvery’ as part of the day’s line-up, adding to the promise of a proper taste of home atmosphere for those celebrating.
Meanwhile, over in Fuengirola they are also getting in on the action. Pub Royal Fuengirola is advertising a St George’s Day Party on Thursday from 12pm with live music from 3pm featuring Alexandra Avery, plus great British food and drink on offer.
St George’s Day, traditionally celebrated on April 23, is a popular date in Benalmadena thanks to the area’s large and long-established British community and with events like these, it looks set to be another great excuse to get out, enjoy the sunshine, and join the party with a tray of fish and chips. Dress in your best fancy-dress or the colours of St George, and bring the whole family for a day filled with laughter and activities for the kids.
