Alicante leads Spain in demand for property across multiple municipalities

Alicante has quickly become the Spanish province with the greatest demand for purchasing houses across many of its municipalities, according to data released by property rental and purchasing platform Idealista. Among the 84 total municipalities analysed across the country, 16 of Alicante’s municipalities made the list for highest buyer demand, showcasing the desirability of the province and the busy movement of the real estate sector along the Costa Blanca.

With an average price of €317,320, the capital of Alicante appears as 23rd in the national ranking, according to Idealista’s data. Apart from the city, the other named municipalities in the list include Elche, Santa Pola, La Vila Joiosa, Denia, Guardamar del Segura, Benidorm, Pilar de la Horadada, Torrevieja, Altea, l’Alfas del Pi, Calp, Orihuela, Xabia, Ciudad Quesada and Finestrat.

Alicante even stands out when compared to other Spanish real estate hotspots, including Malaga on the Costa del Sol, which boasted nine municipalities in the list; as well as the bustling and busy tourist capital Barcelona and the Costa Calida hub of Murcia, which both had six municipalities making the list.

The sheer number of municipalities on the list of highest demand showcases the strong real estate sphere in Alicante and especially along its desirable coastline. The province boasts both charming inland urban areas as well as more laid-back, coastal beach towns, and the residential appeal is one of the highest in Spain, according to spiking visitor numbers and a piqued interest in the real estate sector.

The priciest provinces in Spain for purchasing properties

It is noteworthy that several towns in Alicante are among the most expensive in the ranking. The municipality of Altea ranks in the top 5 of the highest prices, representing an average price of €1.22 million. Javea nearly reaches the one-million-euro price point as well, with an average price of €985,000 for its homes.

On a national scale, Madrid tops the list, followed by Zaragoza and Valencia. Other areas in Spain with highest demand include Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Valladolid, Barcelona, ​​Vitoria, Sevilla and A Coruña.
