The Costa Blanca hub of Torrevieja will be celebrating Europe Day on Saturday, May 9 with a massive gala in its International Auditorium, an event hosted by the Town Council’s Department of International Residents and other administrative officials. The event aims to strengthen coexistence, integration, and a strong sense of European identity among the many different residents and visitors of the vibrant coastal town.

An invitation-only event to celebrate European camaraderie

Attendance for the event will be free and will be by invitation only, available for reservation at the official website, culturatorrevieja.com. Residents and visitors will be able to register and download their tickets from Thursday, April 30, until capacity is reached.

The Europe Day celebrations in Torrevieja have become a major highlight of the town’s social and cultural calendar, attracting countless residents and visitors each year. This year, the lineup includes local artists like Sette Voci, a group who will perform some iconic songs from Eurovision. They will also perform the Anthem of the European Union during the event.

Finally, the grand finale of the gala will be a performance by María Isabel, who was the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and who will perform some of her most popular songs, including Antes muerta que sencilla.

Free bus service will be active for the event

To facilitate ease of access to the venue, a special free bus service will be available departing from Avenida Gregorio Marañón at 6:30pm. The bus will also return at the end of the event. The bus will improve accessibility and encourage citizen participation, in a highly-anticipated celebration open to the entire population.

Petanque tournament follows the traditional gala

Additionally, the town will host the traditional Petanque Tournament for Europe Day 2026. It will be held on Sunday, May 10th in the Rocajuna urbanisation. This competition will feature international teams made up of residents of Torrevieja, representing countries including Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, France and Belgium.

The Belgian team, winner of the 2025 edition, will try to defend its title in an event that combines exciting sport, camaraderie and European spirit.
