Sevillanas Fair brings music, dance and tradition to Torrevieja

The vibrant Costa Blanca hub of Torrevieja is preparing to kick May off with one of its most incredible spring celebrations, the Sevillanas Fair, to take place at the enormous Antonio Soria Park venue in town. For four days in May, the park will become the epicenter of festive celebration on the Costa Blanca, with live music, dance, deep-rooted Andalucian tradition and entertainment for all audiences.

The Sevillanas Fair will kick off on Thursday, May 7 at noon with the opening of the venue and the inauguration of the fair taking place that same evening, complete with the anthem of Torrevieja, played by the UMT band. A fireworks display will follow, dazzling audiences, and another performance by the Mery Dance Academy will follow.

Friday, May 8 will see a performance by the Municipal School of Dance of Torrevieja, followed by a Soul Dance performance and finally, that evening, a Concert by La Cuarta Cuerda. This is one of the most anticipated performances; La Cuarta Cuerda is one of the emerging groups in Torrevieja with its fusion of flamenco-pop and current rumba.

Saturday, May 9 will see Rocío mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, sung by the Brisa del Sur Choir, as well as parades of horsemen and carriages to the fairgrounds and horse ride. Performances by Paya’s Dance School and the QK Dance Academy will follow, and that evening, another blowout concert will take place, this time by Raya Evolution, a group made up of members of Raya Real, with an extensive career in festive Andalucian music.

Finally, the Sevillanas Fair will close on Sunday, May 10 with a performance by the Angela Esteban School of Dance, the Copla Contest Final, and the closing of the Fair, including the participation of the choirs and finalists from the contest. 

Traditional events, countless visitors, and an unforgettable May spectacle

This popular fair will bring together thousands of residents and visitors to Torrevieja around traditional performances and activities that combine folklore, gastronomy and leisure. The programme will highlight local talent, with the participation of dance academies and schools from Torrevieja, which will have a leading role on the main stage.

In addition to the concerts, the Sevillanas Fair will feature traditional events including  the parade of horsemen and carriages, the horse ride and the final of the Copla Contest, offering a varied programme that keeps the true essence of this celebration alive.
