Thanks to an ancient way of predicting weather patterns, young meteorological prodigy Jorge Rey has released a forecast for the whole month of May across Spain before even AEMET (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency) could. Jorge Rey forecasts the arrival of instability across the country, which could bring potentially very strong storms to Spain in the month of May.

Jorge Rey’s forecast for the May Day bank holiday weekend

According to Jorge, the May Day bank holiday weekend could see a radical shift in the weather. Between May 1 and May 3, persistent rain will arrive in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, with cloudy skies in the centre of the country and also bringing a possibility of light showers. The southern portion of the country can expect mild weather, and stability can be expected along the Mediterranean coastline.

Jorge Rey’s May forecast: Instability, rain, and hot weather

Moving forward from May 4 to May 6, a relatively weak front will enter Spain from the west, bringing light rain in parts of the centre of the country along with it. Some rain will also be expected in the south of the country, but especially in the west, including western Andalucia and Extremadura. The Mediterranean will also experience some instability.

Around May 7, May 8, and May 9, multiple, large storms will form inland across the Iberian Peninsula, especially in many parts of Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, and towards the Mediterranean coastline. Storms could become locally strong and some mild showers will arrive in the northern part of the country.

Around May 13, the weather will generally improve across the country, and some areas of the centre and the south will see rising temperatures around May 14 to May 17. A cloud front will enter from the west, also affecting parts of the north with some rain, spreading to parts of the centre as well.

May 18 to May 22 will see the weather gradually improving in the south of Spain, with rising temperatures. Weak but frequent storms, however, will form inland, especially in mountainous areas like the central system and the Iberian system. Instability will also be expected in the Mediterranean.

Notably, stability will return to the whole of Spain around May 23 to May 27, with moderate heat in parts of the south.

Scattered, isolated thunderstorms can be expected inland around May 28 to May 31, with stability expected in the rest of the country.

The cabañuelas method: Jorge Rey’s ‘eerily’ accurate way of predicting weather months in advance

Jorge Rey’s method, the cabañuelas method for which he became famous, is an age-old traditional way of predicting weather that involves closely observing atmospheric conditions, natural phenomena, and even animal behaviours during specific periods, which correspond to the different months of the year.

Jorge has become widely acclaimed on social media, with tens of thousands of regular viewers, for his eerily accurate predictions and firm adherence to this traditional and observational practice of weather prediction. He skyrocketed to fame after correctly predicting the 2021 Filomena snowstorm before professional Madrid meteorologists could.

Viewers in his comments often marvel at the accuracy of his predictions, able to pinpoint the exact dates and locations of storms and other phenomena before traditional meteorologists.
