The simple gift of clear sight is something many of us take for granted, but for thousands around the world, it is a beautiful, life altering miracle. Thanks to the true compassion of our Fuengirola community, that miracle is finally reaching those who need it the most. Over the past year, customers at Intervision Expert Fuengirola have opened their loving hearts, donating a staggering four thousand pairs of preowned glasses to the Lions Club.
Thousands of eye glasses to be recycled for use in the 3rd world
These treasured donations are now beginning a wonderful journey. They will travel to the Melvin Jones Glasses Recycling Centre in San Vicente del Raspeig, the only facility of its kind in Spain. There, volunteers lovingly inspect and prepare them before they are sent to developing nations. Every year, this incredible centre processes a hundred thousand pairs, sending hope to more than thirty-five countries.
Fuengirola community gets fully behind initiative
David Bradshaw, spokesperson for the local optical centre, was deeply moved by the vast outpouring of support. “Every pair of donated glasses has the power to transform a life,” he shared. “The response from our customers shows the remarkable unity that exists here in Fuengirola.”
The gift of renewed sight
Marybel Pacheco and Fernando Juanes from the Lions Club Spain showed great appreciation on behalf of the lions as they came to collect the boxes packed with spectacles to recycle and reuse in San Vicente del Raspeig, in the Costa Blanca. From there, they will be transported to where they are needed most in the world.
When someone regains their vision, they completely regain their precious independence and their future. You can still be part of this deeply beautiful story by bringing your old glasses to Intervision Expert Fuengirola, in Avenida Ramón y Cajal, number six, today.
