Families in Benalmadena will soon be able to visit a new dinosaur-themed park in Santangelo Norte as construction enters its final stage. Giant prehistoric figures, climbing structures and themed play zones have now been installed at the site on Calle Espino, according to Benalmadena Town Hall.

Dinosaur zones ready

Mayor Juan Antonio Lara and Parks Councillor Juan Olea recently visited the development to inspect progress on the works. Officials confirmed that dinosaur attractions and educational features linked to different eras of Earth’s history are already in place.

Three themed sections will represent the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras. Plans include a giant lizard play structure, a triceratops climbing area and a large mammoth figure designed for children to explore safely. Decorative landscaping, picnic tables, benches and much needed shaded pergolas are also part of the project.

Town Hall statements describe the park as both a recreational and educational space for local families. Officials also confirmed that Benalmadena’s first vertical garden will be installed inside the new leisure area.

€714,000 investment in Santangelo Norte

Construction carries a budget of €714,677.56, with Eulen responsible for the works after winning the public contract. Engineering firm Getinsa Euroestudios prepared the project design.

Earlier reports from 2024 confirmed that the project also included improved irrigation systems, upgraded green areas, pedestrian access routes, fencing and new public furniture following complaints about the deteriorated condition of the previous playground.

Benalmadena Town Hall has not yet announced an official opening date, although municipal representatives stated that the park is expected to open “soon” once final works are completed.

The park is in a great location for families to visit, it sits close to residential developments with easy road access from the AP-7 nearby and local bus connections. Streets in the surrounding area already provide free parking options for residents and visitors.
