Residents across parts of the Costa Blanca are being advised about upcoming service changes, including a planned electricity outage in Los Montesinos and the launch of a new digital council app in Santa Pola.
Here is a quick round-up of the latest local community updates affecting residents across the region.
Planned power cut announced for Los Montesinos
Residents in several parts of Los Montesinos are being encouraged to prepare for a temporary power outage scheduled for today, 22 May.
Electricity distributor i-DE says the interruption will take place between 8 am and 11 am while maintenance and improvement work is carried out on the local electricity network.
According to the company, the works are designed to strengthen the reliability and stability of the power supply in the municipality.
The temporary outage is expected to affect properties in a number of streets, including Avenida Mar, Calle San Juan, Calle San Lucas, Calle San Mateo and Calle Divino Pastor.
Additional affected areas include sections of Avenida Luz, Calle Unión Europea, Calle Manuel de Falla, Calle Santiago Apóstol and Calle Carlos Díez Cechini.
Residents living in the affected zones are advised to take precautions during the interruption, particularly those relying on electrical appliances or medical equipment during the morning period.
Electricity supply is expected to return once the maintenance work has been completed.
Santa Pola launches new mobile app for residents
Santa Pola Town Hall has launched a new mobile application allowing residents to report local issues, access council services and receive public updates directly from their phones.
The app, called “Santa Pola Contigo”, is now available for both Android and iPhone users and aims to improve communication between the council and the public.
One of the main features allows residents and visitors to report problems around the town, including broken street lighting, cleaning issues and damaged street furniture.
Users can upload photographs, choose the category of the issue and automatically send the location using GPS technology. Relevant council departments then receive the report and can update its progress once the problem has been resolved.
The app also centralises a wide range of useful local information, including council news, emergency alerts, events, weather updates, pharmacies on duty, social media links and important telephone numbers.
Residents can additionally use the platform to access online council services such as appointment booking, administrative procedures and direct links to the town hall’s electronic office.
Local officials say the new system is designed to make public services faster, more accessible and easier to manage for both residents and visitors alike.
