Benissa will be hosting one of its most exciting sports events in June, with the return of the long-awaited sixth edition of the Entre Cales open water swimming crossing, an event that, in recent years, has become one of the most popular watersports related events in the town’s summer calendar.

An exciting swimming crossing that combines sport with the beauty of the coastline

The event, which will take place on Sunday, June 14, will see swimmers take on a 2,500-metre route in Benissa’s picturesque coastline, starting at Cala Baladrar and finishing at the Club Náutico Les Bassetes. This event, which will kick off from 10:00am, will offer participants a chance to compete and tackle a formidable challenge, as well as experience this stretch of the Mediterranean coastline in a new way, traversing some of the municipality’s most idyllic coves.

Participants of all ages and abilities welcome

The race has various categories available for participation, including senior swimmers, making it an accessible event for both experienced swimmers and newcomers to the sport. Participation, however, will be limited to 300 swimmers for safety reasons, so those who want to participate and take on the challenge are encouraged to register as soon as possible at the official website, crono4sports.es

Registration cost, when to collect bibs, and mandatory safety equipment

Registration for the Entre Cales swimming crossing will cost €20, and entries will be available online until Thursday, June 11. Race bibs will be collected on the day of the event, from 7:30am to 8:30am, before heading to the starting line. The use of a personal safety buoy will be mandatory, as safety remains a top priority for the event.

An event to grow Benissa’s reputation as a prime sporting hub

Organised by the Club Náutico Benissa, in collaboration with Club Náutico Les Bassetes, the event has exploded in popularity since its first edition in 2021, and both national and international swimmers are drawn by the sporting and nature-based event in the charming Costa Blanca town.

Part of the wider open water swimming circuit in the Marina Alta, the Entre Cales open water swimming crossing is one of the prime events dedicated to sports tourism, and combines a strong competitive heart with the breathtaking natural beauty of the Costa Blanca coastline.
