AEMET, the Spanish state meteorological agency, has placed the Costa del Sol and Granada coast under official yellow alerts for extreme heat on Tuesday, June 2. Parts of Murcia and Alicante Province face the same warning as temperatures climb to their highest point of the week before easing.
Heat alerts target popular coastal stretches
Yellow alerts cover the Costa del Sol and Granada coast on Tuesday, with expected highs near 34ºC. See the alert active from early afternoon with peaks reaching 39ºC in the Vega del Segura and Guadalentín areas. The Alicante Province also falls under the yellow warning, with temperatures climbing to 37ºC in some locations. Costa Blanca South around Torrevieja feels the strongest impact, while Costa Blanca North near Benidorm stays marginally cooler thanks to sea influence.
Forecast details for Almeria, Murcia and Mallorca
Almeria registers highs around 29ºC on Tuesday under mostly clear skies. Murcia’s coastal areas reach the upper 30s, while inland zones hit the warning threshold. Costa Blanca South records 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, with Costa Blanca North nearer 30ºC. Mallorca sees highs close to 29ºC in Palma, with warm nights offering limited relief. Sea breezes moderate conditions right on the shorelines across all these regions.
Temperatures ease after Tuesday’s peak
After that, there should be a noticeable drop as highs fall several degrees across the board. Conditions return to normal temperatures typical of June, with daytime readings settling in the mid- to upper 20s Celsius for the Costa del Sol, Almeria, Murcia, Costa Blanca and Mallorca. Clear skies continue through midweek with only light winds and no rainfall expected in these areas. Overnight lows stay in the low 20s before easing further.
If you’re out and about, keep hydrated and limit exposure during the Tuesday peak, particularly in alerted zones. Conditions moderate quickly afterwards and deliver more comfortable weather for outdoor activities by Thursday.
