Patti LuPone, the celebrated American actress and singer known for her three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and two Grammy Awards, brings her acclaimed show to Spanish audiences for the first time.

Legendary performer begins historic Spanish dates

LuPone arrives in Malaga at the invitation of Antonio Banderas to open her Songs from a Hat tour on Thursday, June 11 at Teatro del Soho CaixaBank. This visit serves as clear evidence of the Costa del Sol growing cultural relevance and stature in the arts world. Audiences will experience an intimate evening starting at 8pm, after which Banderas will present her with the prestigious Premio LUX DUCTOR.

Unique format promises spontaneous magic

Songs from a Hat is set to deliver a distinctive concert experience quite unlike traditional recitals. LuPone performs with her musical director Joseph Thalken at the piano. Titles emerge through random draws from a top hat directly on stage, making sure every performance guarantees delivery of fresh surprises.

Audiences can expect highlights from her legendary career spanning more than five decades. Selections include memorable moments from the original Evita production, her acclaimed role as Fantine in Les Misérables in London, powerful turns in Sunset Boulevard and Company, plus hidden gems from the American songbook and personal anecdotes.

Full tour schedule across Spain

Performances continue in Barcelona at Teatre Tivoli on June 12, then Madrid at Nuevo Teatro Alcala on June 15. Stops follow in the Canary Islands with Veranos del Taoro festival in Tenerife on June 19 and Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Gran Canaria on June 21. The journey concludes at Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao on June 24. Each date offers a completely unique programme shaped by chance.

This landmark series marks a notable moment for Spanish theatre fans eager to witness one of Broadway’s greatest talents. LuPone’s presence in Malaga goes to show how the region now attracts world-class figures and strengthens its profile as a destination for high-calibre cultural events. Fans can look forward to unforgettable nights filled with theatrical history and musical excellence in these special appearances.
