The organizers of Solaris Nerja 2026 have officially cancelled the major music festival just days before it was due to begin at El Playazo beach in Nerja. In a statement released on June 10, the organisers confirmed that the 10-day event would not go ahead, promising all ticket holders a swift and full refund.
According to the official communication, the difficult decision was made after organisers concluded that “the current conditions do not allow us to guarantee the level of quality, safety and experience” they considered necessary to stage the beachside festival. Management emphasised that the cancellation was made strictly to maintain the high standards originally set for the event and to avoid delivering an experience below attendee expectations.
Automatic refunds for all ticket holders
For those who had planned to attend, the refund process is already underway. Refunds are being processed automatically using the same payment method used for the original purchase. Organisers have explicitly stated that ticket holders do not need to take any further action or file any claims to receive their money back.
The festival had been scheduled to run from June 18 to June 28 at El Playazo. The ambitious lineup featured major artists and curated event brands including Chambao, Bresh, Oh See!, Techno Flamenco, and Space of Sound featuring Claptone.
Nerja Town Hall responds to the disruption
Nerja Town Hall has issued its own statement expressing deep regret over the sudden cancellation. They clarified that the decision by the organising company was completely out of their hands, noting it was due to “circumstances beyond the control of this Town Hall.”
At the time of publication, neither the festival organisers nor Nerja Town Hall have publicly cited permit delays, legal battles, environmental objections, or structural town hall intervention as reasons behind the collapse of the event.
Inside the online discussion and ticket sale rumours
Since the cancellation announcement exploded across social media platforms and music forums, speculation has been rampant. However, no evidence has been published by organisers or local authorities to support rumours regarding licensing issues or regulatory interventions.
Instead, public attention has turned heavily toward ticket sales. This speculation stems directly from a separate cancellation statement issued by OH, SEE! Nerja, an independent event that was integrated into the wider Solaris programming calendar.
In its independent public statement, the team behind OH, SEE! Nerja explicitly revealed that ticket sales “had not reached the level necessary to make the festival viable,” prompting their own immediate shutdown and refund process. Local and regional media outlets have since pointed to overall sluggish ticket sales across the board as the primary financial reason for the entire festival’s cancellation.
