Hundreds of local residents and visitors filled the Town Hall Square in San Pedro del Pinatar over the weekend, with the arrival of the annual patron saint festivities, a large social and cultural event that filled the municipality with camaraderie, music, and fun. The event was kicked off by the opening rocket in the Town Hall Square, where residents, organisations, and associations gathered to welcome these days of celebration and festivities.
A speech that led into a spectacular rocket and fireworks show for the residents
The event was kicked off by a speech from the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Pedro Javier Sánchez, as well as from the town crier of this year’s festivities, Saturnino García. The speech was immediately followed by the countdown and launch of a rocket to officially mark the beginning of the event, unleashing joy among the attendees and beginning the lively festival atmosphere that lasted days.
The event was also made possible by the participation of local clubs, groups, and companies, that set up stalls for visitors to stop by and experience different cultural, social, and gastronomic activities.
The first day of the event was also marked by a concert with live music by Los Vinilos and a DJ set that kept the festive atmosphere in the square for hours on end.
A patron saint celebration to mark the beginning of summer on the Costa Calida
San Pedro del Pinatar’s patron saint festivities are an essential event for the neighbours and visitors of the municipality; an annual fair that brings the locals closer to each other with social events and activities, and putting the municipality’s food, hospitality, culture, and camaraderie at the forefront of the event.
This symbolic opening, a fireworks rocket that bathed the municipality in lights and colours, was the beginning of the summer and gave way to a few days of joy, fun, family-friendly festivities, and activities for the community to participate in together, on the idyllic Costa Calida.
