Torremolinos council has installed two new rest points for hikers at Cañada del Lobo within the town’s part of the mountain range. One features a giant wooden bench next to the viewpoint and the other a panoramic seat on the uphill access trail. The idea is to start encouraging people from Torremolinos to take up healthy, sporty routines and, at the same time, introduce them to more of the spectacular landscape surrounding the Costa del Sol town.

Oversized bench provides rest at viewpoint

Council staff have erected a large wooden bench four metres wide and 2.40 metres high near the Cañada del Lobo viewpoint. Its seat rests 1.30 metres above ground so walkers can pause comfortably like children on an oversized seat. It offers a stable spot for longer breaks and a great Instagrammable opportunity.

Second bench placed on uphill trail

Workers also placed a second wooden bench 2.06 metres long (a more normal size this time) on the path leading to the viewpoint. This addition gives hikers another place to rest and regain energy, or enjoy a small picnic, on woodland slopes to Cañada del Lobo. Both benches suit outdoor use and support Sierra de Torremolinos route users.

Cañada del Lobo ranks as popular hiking spot

Cañada del Lobo ranks as a leading natural attraction in Torremolinos. Its closeness to the built-up area, tree cover and wide outlooks over Malaga Bay make it a regular pick for residents and holidaymakers looking for exercise and fresh air. Trails suit different abilities, and many return for coastal panoramas after a short walk from town.

Upgrades support comfort and nature tourism growth

The benches’ placement shows the council plans to raise comfort so path users can stop to watch wildlife or enjoy woodland calm. Further projects include greater attention to Sierra de Torremolinos’ natural heritage and motivation for families to ramble near home.

The council added the giant bench to create a photo opportunity, like similar structures in other Spanish towns, drawing social media interest. Representatives expect this feature to boost knowledge of Cañada del Lobo and expand municipal nature tourism activities. Environment staff note the benches help visitors appreciate the area’s ecological and scenic value and encourage protection of green spaces.
