Holidaymakers and residents in Moraira are getting a welcome break this summer, with free parking now available on several of the town’s busiest streets throughout July.

The initiative, introduced by Teulada-Moraira Town Council, allows drivers to park without paying in designated blue-zone areas during the month, provided they obtain a free ticket from the parking meter or through the official parking app. The measure is designed to encourage more people to visit local shops, restaurants and businesses during one of the Costa Blanca’s busiest periods.

Rather than removing parking controls altogether, the council has kept the time limits in place to ensure spaces continue to turn over throughout the day, preventing vehicles from occupying prime locations for hours at a time.

How the free parking works

Motorists using the affected streets must still collect a parking ticket, even though there is no charge. The ticket records the arrival time and allows local authorities to monitor how long vehicles remain parked.

The maximum permitted stay continues to apply, helping to keep spaces available for shoppers, diners and visitors moving through the town centre.

Officials say the scheme aims to strike a balance between making parking more affordable while ensuring businesses benefit from a steady flow of customers instead of long-term parking.

A boost for Moraira’s summer economy

July is one of Moraira’s busiest months, with thousands of visitors arriving to enjoy the beaches, marina and restaurants.

Finding parking can be one of the biggest frustrations during the peak tourist season, particularly in the town centre near the waterfront. By removing parking charges on selected streets, the council hopes to make visiting the resort easier while supporting independent retailers and hospitality businesses.

The move is also expected to encourage shorter, more frequent visits, giving more drivers the opportunity to access central parking spaces throughout the day.

While the parking fee has been waived, motorists are reminded that failing to display the required free ticket or overstaying the permitted time could still result in enforcement action.

The council is encouraging anyone planning a visit to familiarise themselves with the parking rules before arriving, ensuring they can take advantage of the free parking offer while helping keep traffic moving smoothly during Moraira’s busy summer season.
