As the sun continues to heat up even more, and our beloved pets don’t get as much walk time as normal, they can long for the feeling of the cool sea as much as we as humans can. Thankfully, Marbella is keeping two dedicated coastal zones for four-legged visitors throughout the official swimming season. Pet owners can legally enjoy the sand and surf with their furry friends at a designated section of El Pinillo beach, as well as Ventura del Mar beach in San Pedro Alcantara.
Both locations feature clear signage and necessary adaptations to ensure optimal hygiene, safety, and animal control. Local authorities established this distribution to bring balance to the desires of pet lovers with beach lovers who prefer a pet-free environment.
Key dates and rules for pet owners you must note
Canine access remains restricted to these specific zones until Thursday, October 15. Exceptions apply only to registered rescue dogs, assistance animals, and guide dogs supporting individuals with special needs. A reminder that taking care of your pet in this heat is absolutely crucial for their wellbeing. Under Spain’s Animal Welfare Law, exposing pets to extreme heat, leaving them in locked cars, or keeping them tied up in scorching sun is classified as a serious or very serious infraction, carrying heavy financial penalties.
Increased patrols and monitoring
Town Hall officials intend to step up information campaigns and surveillance across the area to guarantee compliance. Local police officers will focus primarily on educating and guiding visitors, though standard penalties remain an option for anyone ignoring the regulations.
Public cooperation is essential to maintain cleanliness and mutual respect across the coastline. Owners must take full responsibility for their animals’ behaviour and waste removal at all times.
