Two neighbouring luxury villas on Mallorca’s exclusive Formentor peninsula have been placed on the market by US billionaire investor Howard Marks, creating one of the most eye-catching property listings currently available in Spain.

The homes, overlooking Pollensa Bay, are being offered for a combined €62 million, although buyers also have the option of purchasing them individually. The sale is attracting international attention as demand for ultra-prime homes in Mallorca continues to remain strong.

Two very different luxury homes

The properties belong to Howard Marks, co-founder of global investment firm Oaktree Capital Management, and his wife Nancy. The couple bought the homes more than a decade ago and transformed them into distinctive Mediterranean retreats.

One villa, known as La Posada, dates back to the 1940s and combines traditional Mallorcan architecture with modern luxury following an extensive redesign. The estate includes seven bedrooms, a separate guesthouse, staff accommodation and sweeping views across the bay.

Next door is Sa Punta, a striking contemporary villa with floor-to-ceiling glass, six bedrooms, a private fitness area and a glass lift connecting its levels. Together, the two homes occupy one of the most coveted stretches of coastline on the island.

Why Formentor remains so desirable

The Formentor peninsula has long been regarded as one of Mallorca’s most exclusive addresses. Surrounded by pine forests, dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters, it offers a level of privacy that is increasingly difficult to find elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

Strict planning regulations mean very few new waterfront properties can be built, helping existing homes retain their value even during slower periods in the wider property market.

The area has also enjoyed renewed international attention following the reopening of the luxury Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, further strengthening its reputation among wealthy overseas buyers.

Mallorca’s luxury market stays resilient

While some European holiday-home markets have experienced slower growth, Mallorca’s trophy properties continue to attract international investors seeking exceptional second homes.

Estate agents say buyers at this end of the market are often looking for unique locations rather than simply large houses, making properties in places such as Formentor, Son Vida and Port d’Andratx particularly sought after.

If sold together, the Marks villas would rank among the island’s most valuable residential transactions of the year, highlighting the enduring global appeal of Mallorca’s luxury real estate market despite wider economic uncertainty.
