Renfe has begun works to improve accessibility and lighting at Torreblanca station on the C-1 line of Malaga’s Cercanias network. These efforts form part of the A Punto plan, a short-term high-impact programme Renfe is promoting across the territory to improve facilities quickly and visibly for passengers.

This action at Torreblanca involves an investment of €251,000 and concentrates on accessibility upgrades, lighting renewal plus renovation of ticket vending modules and the technical room, while keeping the station fully operational at all times.

Access will receive a new accessible ramp made of two sections, replacing one existing staircase to create a fully accessible route for users, according to a company statement.

A completely new railing will go up around the platform perimeter, on the ramp and staircase, featuring double stainless steel handrails. Furniture will be removed and repositioned to optimise space, while the canopy undergoes rehabilitation through sanding or stripping, application of a new paint system and final cleaning.

An independent module will house the two ticket vending machines, incorporating a technical room equipped with electrical panel and auxiliary gear as well as a cleaning room for storage.

Works timeline and operational continuity

Works will run for four and a half months, mixing daytime and nighttime shifts yet always maintaining passenger routes operational.

A Punto in Andalucia covers works at various stations, though subject to changes. Specifically for Cercanias Malaga: Plaza Mayor, Victoria Kent, Malaga-Centro Alameda, Torreblanca and Montemar Alto; Cercanias Cadiz: San Fernando-Bahia Sur, Puerto de Santa Maria, San Fernando Centro, Las Aletas; and Cercanias Sevilla: Dos Hermanas, San Bernardo, Utrera, Virgen del Rocio.

Nationwide reach of the A Punto programme

A Punto identifies, prioritises and schedules interventions that deliver quality gains in the short term, with low technical complexity and strong returns in user perception of service quality. These actions raise quality standards while improving accessibility and comfort at stations.

A Punto in Malaga belongs to a nationwide project that will cover 110 Cercanias and Metric Gauge stations between 2026 and 2027 with a global investment of €24 million over an 18-month period. Renfe created a logo and brand so use
