Brand new competition worthy pump track, a fresh space planned for riders and skaters in Torremolinos

Riders and skaters are in for a treat as Torremolinos will soon be home to a brand new sports track in El Pinillo, but this isn’t your average track, as the council says it is a scheme being designed to be used as an everyday sports area, but also as a host arena for future competitions.

New sports space for El Pinillo

Torremolinos Town Hall has confirmed plans to build a pump track next to the Javier Imbroda sports hall, on a 4,000-square-metre plot in El Pinillo. The site sits between Vicente Blanch Picot, Juan Rosa Mateo and Pasaje Manuel Franco Cubeiro, placing the project within the growing sports area of the district. The project has a base tender budget of €626,356.50.

Council information published through the official town hall statement says the facility will be built for bicycles, scooters, skateboards and other non-motorised vehicles. It will feature an asphalt main circuit with linked berms and rollers, aimed at users of different ages and abilities.

What the project will include

Official details confirm that the space will also include a WaveRamp for surfskate, a mini-mini bowl for beginners, pedestrian paths, landscaped areas and rest zones. Accessibility is part of the plan too, with step-free access and an approach that fits the shape of the available plot. Sustainable drainage has been included through gravel-filled pits or trenches, while the ground will be compacted before the surface layers are laid.

A brilliant new addition for the area

The council says the pump track has been conceived as a medium-to-advanced circuit that can still be used by beginners, but also, the design has been drawn up to meet the standards needed for official certification, opening the door to federated competitions in the future, giving the project a wider sporting purpose for Torremolinos, rather than leaving it as a simple recreational area. The town hall also says the track will connect conceptually with the existing pavilion.

For local families, young riders and sports fans, the new pump track will add a fresh reason to spend time in El Pinillo. If delivered as planned, it should give Torremolinos a modern urban sports facility with wider appeal and real competitive potential.
