Benissa’s August Viu l’Estiu festival brings open-air cinema, live music, and coastal walks

The coastal town of Benissa’s “Viu l’Estiu” programme will continue in August, an extensive cultural festival organised by the municipality to welcome the peak of summertime, tourists, and the vibrant offerings of this charming town. The festival will combine rich heritage, outdoor entertainment, and relaxing activities on the coastline, and with the conclusion of July, the event has already seen great success and will surely continue to enchant residents and visitors through August.

Traditional neighbourhood festivals in the countryside

In Benissa, August is awaited for its deep-rooted neighbourhood celebrations, known as the festes de les partidas. During the month and through to September 12, local communities in Benissa will showcase traditional hospitality, live music, community dinners, and vibrant local cultural events. Many celebrations will take place across the countryside, especially in Pinos, La Fustera, Pouet de Berdica, Benimarraig, Collao, and Benimallunt, providing a glimpse into the authentic spirit of the region.

Open-air cinema by the beach and square

In addition to these small local celebrations, cinema buffs will also get their fix during the event. Twice-weekly open-air movie screenings will take place every Tuesday evening, with family-friendly films lighting up the screens at Plaza Germans Ivars, located in the historic centre. On Thursday evenings, the movie screenings will move to the Playa La Fustera, letting attendees enjoy films under the stars and with the gentle accompaniment of an ocean breeze.

History walks, fitness, and live evening music

For those who prefer more active gatherings, guided walking tours will also take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening in Benissa, taking visitors through the medieval streets and historic architecture of the old town in Spanish, English, and French. For nature lovers, guided nighttime hikes along the cliffside Ecological Walkway offer a fresh perspective on the coastline. Active visitors can also participate in early morning outdoor yoga sessions or evening beachside Pilates at La Fustera Beach throughout the month.

In the evenings, live music fills the public squares and beach promenades, featuring performances by groups like Daisy’s Swing Band, Pentatònics, Cucumpá Orchestra, and Marina Boleros.
