Local traders across Benalmadena Pueblo are getting ready to dress up their shopfronts and bar terraces as a grand total of €1,000 in prize money goes up for grabs this August. Organisers at the Benalmadena Traders and Executives Association (ACEB) have joined forces with the town hall to launch the 2026 edition of the Feria Virgen de la Cruz decoration contest. Running in tandem with the traditional parish celebrations, this friendly local battle gives high street businesses a massive chance to grab extra attention from residents and holidaymakers passing through the old town.

Cash prizes up for grabs across two categories

ACEB have confirmed that six cash rewards are on the line. Winning entries will be split neatly between two distinct competition streams, guaranteeing that standard retailers and local hospitality joints get an equal crack at the whip. Shopfront windows make up the first group, offering €250 for the top entry, €150 for the second spot, and €100 for third place. Meanwhile, bars and eateries sprucing up their interior dining spaces or outdoor street terraces can compete for an identical €250, €150, and €100 prize breakdown.

Public Facebook likes offer bonus boost to contestants

Dressing up shopfronts brings two huge benefits to the village, according to town leaders. Business owners generate proper festive cheer right in the heart of the village while winning valuable online promotion across Malaga province. Official photographs of every single entry will be posted directly onto the ACEB Facebook page, creating plenty of digital buzz as local shoppers and visitors scroll through the colourful window displays.

Social media interactions will play a direct role in deciding who takes home the top cash awards this summer. Members of the public can cast their votes online by giving their favourite entries a quick thumbs-up on Facebook. Every picture racking up more than 100 ‘likes’ between midday on August 12 and midday on August 17 automatically collects five extra bonus points. These additional points get added straight onto the official scorecard compiled by judges visiting participating premises during the fiesta week.

Deadlines and how local businesses can join in

Shopkeepers wanting to get involved need to act fast before time runs out. Entrants must call ACEB organisers directly on 673 744 904 and submit a picture of their finished decorations before the absolute deadline at 2pm on August 11. Full registration details and broader business support services can be explored via the ACEB official website.
