San Pedro del Pinatar was transported back to the legendary golden era of Spanish pop-rock as the fifth edition of the Sal de Música festival officially drew to a close. From its explosive inauguration on Saturday, August 1 until its closing ceremony on Sunday, August 16, the festival delivered a celebration of national music that offered thousands of attendees a unique cultural experience packed with nostalgia, energy, and timeless hits.
Spanish rock legends take centre stage in San Pedro del Pinatar
One of the highlight nights of this emblematic festival brought three iconic powerhouses, Duncan Dhu, Los Rebeldes, and Nacha Pop, together on a single stage. Each of these performers represented distinct styles of Spanish rock, rockabilly, and new wave, and these veteran bands proved that their catalogue of classic and timeless anthems remains a vibrant part of the nation’s collective soundtrack. The audience sang along in unison to hits that have spanned generations, setting a vibrant, electric mood that resonated across the entire venue.
Contemporary pop stars keep the energy high
The momentum continued as the lineup moved towards top-tier contemporary pop. Celebrated artist Leire Martínez captivated fans with a striking vocal performance, while local favourites Maldita Nerea brought the crowd to their feet. Performing in front of a passionate home-region audience, the Murcian group delivered an emotionally charged set filled with beloved tunes, reinforcing the deep artistic connections within the regional music scene.
A soulful grand finale closes out the festival
On the final evening of the festival, Sevillian singer-songwriter Marta Santos took to the stage to bring this landmark edition to a triumphant finish. Her soulful melodies and intimate stage presence provided the perfect closing act, capping off a weekend dedicated to honouring both legendary musical trailblazers and modern smash-hit artists.
A lasting legacy for regional music fans
Bridging the nostalgia of 1980s pop-rock with today’s top artists, the long-awaited Sal de Música festival not only marked a successful edition, but has cemented its status as an essential event on the summer festival calendar for the Costa Calida. Festival attendees, whether fans of pop, rock, soul, or something different entirely, departed with lasting memories and proved once again that truly great music can be appreciated by many generations to come.
