A new outdoor photography exhibition in Los Boliches is a timeline full of facts and photos , showing how the town’s zoo spent the last quarter of a century moving from a traditional animal park into a conservation-focused sanctuary.

Public exhibition along the seafront

Animal fans in the area can enjoy a walk in the sun and take a trip back in time, as running through until October 18, this thoroughly interesting open-air display features large-format photographs placed along the main pedestrian walkway. Mayor Ana Mula opened the installation, which documents the journey and transformation of BIOPARC Fuengirola since opening its doors 25 years ago. Locals and holidaymakers walking the coastal path can enjoy their ice cream whilst tracing the park’s history through images covering major breeding programmes, habitat design, and daily care routines.

Behind the scenes with keepers and care teams

Focusing heavily on the human effort behind species protection, the goes into details about the keepers, veterinary teams, and educators, so its not only about the animals. Photographs depict hands-on work with endangered species, including Sumatran tigers, Bornean orangutans, and western lowland gorillas.

Detailed captions accompanying the stunning photos explain the park’s involvement in European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP), illustrating how local efforts tie into global biodiversity initiatives.

Travellers choice award for Andalucia

Coinciding with the anniversary exhibition, BIOPRC Fuengirola has recently been ranked number 1 zoo in Andalucia in TripAdvisor’s 2026 rankings , a position based on traveller reviews and preferences, and has also received the platform’s Travellers’ Choice award.

Park directors hope the promenade display encourages both residents and visitors to look beyond standard tourism and appreciate the technical, scientific work required to maintain modern animal welfare standards.

You can find the exhibition along the Los Boliches promenade until October 18, for more information about visiting the park and about the exhibition, you can find all the information on the BIOPARC Fuengirola website.
