Magic and tradition comes to Comares as they celebrate their Summer Feria for 2026

Axarquia’s stunning mountain town is ready to welcome thousands of returning families and travellers for a wonderful four‑day extravaganza from August 27 to August 30 2026.

Ancient traditions on the cliffside hamlet

Comares will transform into a buzzing hub of folk music, traditional contests and culture as local organisers have officially presented a packed schedule. Music lovers can look forward to authentic sounds starting Thursday evening at 10pm, when five regional choirs gather for a large harmony showcase. Local singers will fill the air with folk melodies before late‑night flamenco sets take over.

Family-friendly fun and children’s celebrations

Daytime hours throughout the feria are all about the youngsters. A full children’s park with inflatables and games will be running across the weekend, offering a fun, safe and relaxed space away from the evening crowds. Friday also features the traditional children’s king and queen pageant, a local favourite where kids and teens take part in a friendly celebration of community pride.

Sporting feats and big‑name performances

Friday things get a bit more physical, competitors tackle traditional bicycle ribbon races along the town’s narrow lanes, attempting to spear hanging silk rings while moving. The evening programme is an exciting mix of nostalgia and lively entertainment. Panda de Verdiales de El Borge, a group well known among locals for its incredible violin‑led performances, followed by tribute band Legado will perform classics by El Barrio and late‑night sets from DJ Toulalan.

Saturday morning awakens to brass band fanfares from Benamocarra at 9:30am, leading into a flamenco style choral mass honouring patron saint San Hilario de Poitiers. Thrilling motorbike ribbon races then hit during the afternoon, clearing the way perfectly for recording artist Nolasco to wow the crowds on Saturday night.

Headliners and sacred processions complete four days of festivities

Sunday closes out the festivities with a moving finale full of history. Verdiales bands will fill street corners to the brim with intricate violin work and ribboned hats. Celebrations culminate in an emotional street procession bearing the image of San Hilario de Poitiers through the winding whitewashed alleys, ending four spectacular days of local traditions.
