One of Javea’s central green spaces is set for a major makeover, with an ambitious project designed to create a more modern, accessible and family-friendly park.

€1.5 million investment planned

Parque Montaner is at the centre of plans to transform one of the town’s most important public spaces.

The project represents an investment of more than €1.5 million, with funding coming from both the Generalitat Valenciana and Javea Town Hall.

The aim is not simply to give the park a cosmetic facelift, but to completely rethink how the space is used by residents and visitors.

The 13,000-square-metre park will be redesigned with a stronger focus on leisure, accessibility, green areas and facilities for different generations.

New play areas for children

Families are expected to benefit significantly from the plans.

The existing children’s facilities will be replaced with new play areas designed for youngsters up to the age of 12. The proposals include inclusive play equipment, allowing children with different abilities to enjoy the space.

Safety will also be improved through the installation of modern impact-absorbing surfaces around the play equipment.

The project is designed to make the park a more attractive destination for families while providing children with a larger and more varied space to play.

Exercise and leisure facilities

The redevelopment will also cater to adults and older residents.

Existing outdoor exercise facilities will be maintained, while additional equipment will provide opportunities for physical activity.

A dedicated area for dogs is also included, helping to separate different uses of the park and make the space more practical for pet owners.

New benches, street furniture and improved lighting are planned throughout the site, creating a more comfortable environment for people to spend time outdoors.

Accessibility at the heart of the plans

Improving accessibility is another major priority.

The redesigned park will include improved routes and connections between its different areas, making it easier for people with reduced mobility, parents with pushchairs and other visitors to move around.

The project also includes improvements to irrigation and landscaping.

Rather than removing the park’s established character, the plans aim to preserve mature trees and existing vegetation wherever possible. New planting will complement the existing greenery while keeping water consumption and maintenance requirements under control.

A historic feature will remain

The transformation will also preserve one of Parque Montaner’s most distinctive features, the Riurau d’Arnauda.

The traditional building is being developed as a cultural and community space, helping to maintain a connection with Javea’s agricultural heritage.

Further improvements include facilities such as adapted toilets, storage and a traditional escaldar oven.

The redevelopment therefore combines modern facilities with elements of Javea’s history, creating a park intended to serve residents of all ages.

Once completed, Parque Montaner is expected to become a significantly more attractive and versatile public space, offering everything from children’s play and outdoor exercise to relaxation, community activities and cultural events.
