Rare vulture rescued after storm takes unexpected turn in Javea

Heavy storms that swept across Javea last week led to an unusual wildlife rescue after a rare Egyptian vulture sought shelter on the terrace of a local home.

Residents were surprised to discover the bird taking refuge from the fierce weather and quickly alerted the Local Police, who safely recovered the exhausted visitor before arranging specialist care. The incident has drawn attention not only because of the dramatic weather but also because sightings of Egyptian vultures in the area are uncommon.

Neighbours raise the alarm

As strong winds and torrential rain battered the Marina Alta coastline, the bird appeared in the terrace of a private property, seemingly seeking protection from the storm.
