Family desperately searching for British woman missing from Benidorm

A British family is facing an agonising wait for news after losing contact with a woman staying in Benidorm, prompting an urgent appeal for anyone in the Costa Blanca resort who may have seen her. Alice Rose Chalmers was staying at the Med Playa Hotel Regente when her family last heard from her on Monday, August 24, and her sister has now asked people in the area to help establish where she is. 

Alice has been officially reported missing to Spanish police, with her family liaising with officers as they try to trace her movements. Her sister Charlotte said Alice stopped replying to messages and her phone was going straight to voicemail. 

Alice stopped responding on Monday

According to the family appeal, Alice had initially been staying at the Med Playa Hotel Regente but hotel staff told her sister that she had not returned there since around lunchtime on Monday. Her family does not know whether she moved to another hotel or where she may have gone afterwards.

The last contact with Alice was around 12.05pm on August 24. Since then, relatives and friends have been unable to reach her, increasing concern over her whereabouts.  Her sister has appealed directly to people in Benidorm who may have seen Alice since she left the hotel.

Possible sighting in Benidorm

A possible sighting was reported on Tuesday afternoon at around 05.30pm at the Cristin Batres pharmacy in the Avenida del Mediterráneo area of Benidorm. The information was passed to Alice’s family, who said the description appeared to match her.

However, her sister stressed that the sighting had not been confirmed by police and that Alice had still not been located when the appeal was issued.  That uncertainty means the sighting cannot currently establish where Alice went after leaving the hotel. Her family has also asked people to avoid speculation about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Family asks people to stop speculation

Charlotte said the family appreciates the efforts of people trying to help locate Alice but warned against spreading unverified information. The request is particularly important while police are still working to establish a confirmed timeline.

At present, the publicly available information does not explain why Alice stopped communicating or where she went after leaving the hotel. The family is therefore asking anyone with genuine information to pass it to the authorities rather than relying on rumours or social media speculation.

Alice’s disappearance comes during one of the busiest periods of the year in Benidorm, meaning there are potentially large numbers of visitors and residents who could have crossed paths with her. For investigators, however, even a small piece of reliable information could help establish her movements after she was last seen.

Police have been informed of the disappearance and are liaising with the family as efforts to locate Alice continue.  For her relatives, the priority is finding out where she is and making sure she is safe.
