Brand new fiesta arriving in September to fill Malaga’s streets with four days of local traditions

A brand new festival is landing in Malaga this September, celebrating more than a century of local traditions and culture.

What are the Fiestas de la Victoria?

Running from Thursday, September 3 to Sunday, September 6 2026, the Fiestas de la Victoria bring together concerts, craft workshops, folklore and street food across several of the city’s liveliest venues. Cervezas Victoria has joined forces with Malaga City Council and the Provincial Council to launch this first edition, really focusing on traditions such as verdiales music, biznaga-making and flamenco to build something special.

Where the action happens

Four separate stages will host the festivities. Fabrica Victoria opens proceedings on Thursday with a concert from Besmaya, before hosting a biznaga-making workshop on Sunday morning, where visitors can learn the traditional craft of weaving jasmine flowers onto a dried nerdo frame, a skill long tied to Malaga’s summer nights and its biznagueros. Friday is all about the music, held at La Termica, the city’s converted-power-station cultural centre, with Carlos Sadness, an Alizzz DJ set, Victorias, Sike, DJ Felipe, M.E.M.O and Nur Nur all taking to the stage. Saturday shifts the party to the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta for performances from El Kanka, María Pelae, Tabletom and JavyPablo.

A weekend that closes with tradition

Sunday brings everything together at Parque San Rafael, where a concert from Recreo will run near a traditional verbena, an open-air evening of music and dancing, featuring a line-up of local flamenco, copla and folk performers, including Grupo Esencia y Compas and the Asociacion Folclorica Cultural “Juan Navarro”. A craft market featuring local artisans will run throughout the festival, giving visitors a chance to browse handmade goods between concerts.

Choosing “Victoria” for the festival’s title is no accident. Cervezas Victoria’s first factory opened its doors on September 8 1928 in the El Perchel district, and nearly a century on, the brand is using its own history for a celebration meant to reconnect Malaga’s residents with their heritage while welcoming newer generations and contemporary artists into the mix.

Worth noting that this new fiesta shares its name with Malaga’s older religious celebrations honouring the Virgen de la Victoria, the city’s patron saint, whose feast day falls on September 8. That event, involving a novena, a stately mass and a procession through the city, is a separate occasion. This new fiesta runs alongside it, a secular, music-led counterpart rather than a replacement.
