Shoppers in Motril can now discover dozens of products from Granada province as a special Sabor Granada promotion gets under way at Alcampo.
22 local producers take over part of Alcampo Motril
A total of 22 companies from Granada province are taking part in a special food promotion at Alcampo Motril, giving shoppers the chance to discover and buy products made in the very same province.
Running from September until October 3, the campaign has been organised through Sabor Granada, the Diputacion de Granada brand created to promote food and drink produced, processed and sold by businesses in the province.
A specific area has been created inside the supermarket, making it easier for customers to find the participating products during their normal shopping trips. Products available during the campaign include cheeses, coffee, wines, nuts, potatoes, cured meats, seafood, confectionery, spirits and other local specialities. Participating businesses include Ron Montero, Queseria Motril, Conde de Benalua, Cafés Sol y Crema, Bodegas Fontedei, Puleva, Bodegas Senorio de Nevada and Caña Nature, as well as a number of smaller producers from across Granada province.
Food tastings planned throughout September
Shoppers will also have the chance to try some of the products during 10 tasting sessions planned for Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays during the campaign. Those sessions are intended to give customers a better idea of what is being produced locally, while also offering producers a direct route to people who might otherwise never come across their products.
Motril chefs put Granada produce to the test
Opening day included live cooking from chef Alvaro Garcia of Restaurante El Zarcillo, who prepared two dishes using products from the province. His menu featured a Motril quisquilla tartare and a mango salmorejo served with goat cheese flakes, putting local ingredients at the centre of the demonstration.
Cocktail-making also formed part of the launch, with bartender Merche Lara from La Ruta de la Seda preparing two drinks called ‘Vega Umami’ and ‘El Trapiche’. Local ingredients used in the cocktails included Ron Montero, amela tomato and cherimoya cream.
A chance to discover food made in Granada
Alcampo Motril has hosted Sabor Granada promotions before, with an earlier 2024 campaign featuring products from 38 companies. This year’s event gives residents and visitors on the Costa Tropical until October 3 to browse the dedicated section and take home products from businesses based across Granada province.
Alcampo Motril is located on Avenida Salobreña in the La Puchilla industrial area. The hypermarket normally opens from 9am to 10pm, although Sunday hours can vary.
