Benidorm’s iconic coastline is set to host community spirit once again on Sunday, September 20, as the city welcomes the incredible fourth edition of the Carrera Solidaria “En Primera Línea”, or Front Line Charity Race. Kicking off at 9:30am, the popular annual event brings together local residents, visiting tourists, serious athletes, and enthusiastic families for an inspiring cause: raising essential funds for ASPANION, the Valencian Community’s leading association supporting children with cancer and their families.

The Front Line Charity Race: Accessible routes for all fitness levels

The event offers options for participants of all skill levels. Competitors can choose between a 5K route along the famous Levante beach or a longer 10K course spanning both Levante and Poniente beaches. According to Manolo Martínez, president of the Benidorm Athletics Club, the seaside track is flat, fast, and suitable for all fitness levels.

Non-runners are equally welcome to join the cause through designated walking and Nordic walking categories, and younger participants can take part in specialised children’s races, to be held immediately after the main events.

Raising vital funds for childhood cancer across the Costa Blanca and beyond

The core mission of the day is its charitable heart. Every euro raised goes directly to ASPANION, providing support and resources to children with cancer across the Costa Blanca and beyond. Alejandro López, vice-president of the association, emphasised the vital necessity of this assistance, noting that approximately 150 children are diagnosed with cancer each year across the Valencian region.

Over its previous three editions, the charity race has raised around €75,000, with last year’s event surpassing the 1,000-participant mark. With community momentum growing each year, organisers are confident this fourth edition will smash previous attendance and fundraising records.

How to register and support the cause: Participate in this year’s fourth edition

Whether you are aiming for a personal best on the flat 10K course or taking a gentle morning walk along the beach, taking part offers a direct way to support families facing childhood cancer. Registration is open online at carrerasolidariabenidorm.es, as well as through Grupo Brotons. For those unable to participate on foot, non-running donation options are also available to support ASPANION’s life-changing work.

Athletes and curious beginners across Benidorm should not hesitate to participate in this fun, community-led, and charitable edition of the Front Line Charity Race.
