Benijofar’s popular tapas trail returns from October 2 to 4, with 23 local restaurants taking part in the 16th edition of La Rueda de las Tapas.
Residents and visitors will be able to make their way between participating establishments, sample the different tapas on offer and vote for their favourite, while a series of cash prizes will reward those who collect stamps along the way.
Twenty-three restaurants join Benijofar tapas trail
The three-day event is designed to encourage people to explore Benijofar’s local food scene, with 23 restaurants taking part this year.
Customers can visit participating establishments, try their specially prepared tapas and collect stamps on their event cards.
They will also be able to vote for their favourite tapa, with the restaurant receiving the most public support winning a €1,000 prize from Benijofar Town Hall.
The annual event is organised by the council’s Commerce and Development Department and aims to generate additional business for local bars and restaurants while giving residents and visitors an enjoyable way to discover different venues.
Free tourist train connects participating restaurants
The Habanero tourist train will once again operate during La Rueda de las Tapas, making it easier for participants to travel between the different bars and restaurants.
The service provides an alternative to using a car and allows visitors to move around Benijofar while taking part in the trail.
Participants can also enter several prize draws depending on how many stamps they collect.
Anyone collecting at least five stamps can enter draws for a dinner at the winning restaurant and one of five €50 prizes.
Complete the tapas card for a chance to win €500
Bigger prizes are available for those who visit more of the participating establishments.
Anyone collecting at least half of the available stamps can enter a draw for €300.
Those who manage to complete the entire tapas card by visiting all the required establishments will have the chance to win the top €500 prize.
