More choice ahead as TUI adds new flights from Gatwick, here’s where and when you can fly

Getting between the UK and Spain is about to open up a little further as TUI has just confirmed a fresh batch of flights from Gatwick, and three of them go straight to Spain.

The new Spanish routes announced

Santiago de Compostela, Seville and Valencia are joining TUI’s Gatwick schedule for summer 2027, part of a wider expansion of eight new routes that takes the airline’s total network from the popular UK airport to 59 destinations.

Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, north-west Spain, is best known as the end point of the Camino de Santiago, the famous pilgrim walking route. Seville, Andalucia’s capital, offers flamenco, tapas and one of Spain’s most beautiful old towns, while Valencia brings beaches, paella and some of the best modern architecture on the east coast.

Other new routes on the list head to Athens, Palermo, Tangier, Djerba and Mytilene.

A big benefit for UK to Spain travel

For anyone who loves to holiday in Spain, splits their life between the two countries, or visits family and friends regularly, extra routes open up your options. This means you can try somewhere new, also the additional flights usually translate into better fares, more flexible timings and less reliance on connecting flights. Most of the new services will run two to three times a week and are aimed primarily at flight-only bookers rather than full package holidays. Good news for anyone who just wants a flight rather than a bundled deal.

Peter Glade, TUI Airline’s chief commercial officer, said Gatwick has played a central role in the airline’s UK business for more than six decades, calling the growth to 59 destinations “a natural next step” as the carrier continues investing in the airport.

Rivalry heating up at Gatwick

Jet2 only launched its own Gatwick operation this year and is already adding a new route to Lesvos and raising capacity by 27% on existing sun and leisure destinations from the airport for summer 2027, deploying a seventh aircraft as it builds up its presence in the south of England.

TUI’s overall summer 2027 programme reaches a record 17 million seats and 84,000 flights across Europe, up 4.6% on this year, with additional new routes opening in Italy, Slovenia, Tanzania, Cape Verde and Morocco.

Booking windows for the new Spanish routes are expected to open closer to the 2027 summer season. Well worth keeping an eye on if a trip back and forth is already on the cards.
