Hundreds of people swapped their Sunday lie-in for dancing shoes as Alicante’s popular Zumbathon returned for a very special cause. The 13th edition transformed Alicante Port into a giant dance floor on Sunday, October 25, raising support for ASPANION and its work helping children with cancer and their families across the Valencian Community.

More than 880 tickets snapped up

The 13th Zumbathon took place at El Muelle Live in Alicante Port, bringing together a huge crowd for a morning of music, movement and fundraising.

More than 880 tickets had already been snapped up in the days before the event, as supporters rallied behind ASPANION, the association which helps children with cancer and their families across the Valencian Community.

Organised by Zumba instructor and choreographer Andres Braganza, the event has grown into one of the Costa Blanca’s best-known charity fitness gatherings since it first began in 2013.

Twenty-three instructors lead waterfront Zumbathon

This year, 23 instructors took part alongside international Zumba guests Hermann Melo, Robert Birchbauer and David Avila.

From 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, the waterfront venue became one enormous dance floor, with people of different ages and abilities joining in and doing their bit for a good cause.

The combination of music and exercise once again provided an energetic way for supporters to come together while raising money and awareness for families affected by childhood cancer.

Every ticket helps support ASPANION families

Every ticket sold helped support ASPANION’s important work with families affected by childhood cancer.

The charity provides psychological, social and financial support from the point of diagnosis, as well as practical help and accommodation for families who need to travel while their child receives treatment.

The fundraising generated through events such as the Alicante Zumbathon helps the organisation continue providing that assistance to children and their families during an incredibly difficult period.

Zumbathon continues Alicante charity tradition

After 13 editions, the Alicante Zumbathon continues to bring people together for families facing an incredibly difficult time.

Since its launch in 2013, the event has developed into a regular charity gathering, combining fitness with fundraising and giving hundreds of participants the chance to support ASPANION together.

And once again, it showed that a little fancy footwork can go a very long way.
