Women across the Guadalhorce Valley can now join a relaxed group that puts laughs and friendships first. Sierra Stars Netball Club brings together players from teens right through to their seventies, all looking for a friendly way to spend a couple of hours together.
Meet local women and have a real laugh
Sessions focus on chatting, teamwork and simply enjoying the game rather than serious fitness goals. Players of every ability turn up, including complete beginners who last touched a ball at school. Many say the best part is the coffee and conversation afterwards, building real connections with other expats and locals in the area. Recognised by Asociacion de Netball España and backed by the local council, the club remains the only netball side in the Guadalhorce Valley. Similar groups operate further along the Costa del Sol, such as the Marbella Netball Club that also welcomes newcomers for fun and friendship.
Sunday mornings at the Polideportivo
Training runs every Sunday at the Polideportivo Municipal in Alhaurin el Grande, usually from around 10.30am to 12.30pm. Newcomers can try a session free of charge with no pressure to sign up straight away. The atmosphere stays light-hearted and fun, with mixed ages and skill levels all welcome on the court. For more on community sports nearby, check out other Costa del Sol activities covered in Euro Weekly News, including Andalucian bowls Championships at Lauro Golf.
Get in touch and join the group
Anyone interested can message the club on WhatsApp at +34 663 149 190 or find updates on Instagram at @sierra_stars_nc. Full details on registration and the latest schedule appear there too. Spain’s growing netball scene receives support through Europe Netball and the national association, which helps clubs like Sierra Stars develop. Local women can drop in one Sunday, join the group and see for themselves how easy it is to meet others while having a bit of fun on court.
