Mallorca is being invited to put on their dancing shoes for a lively celebration in Alcúdia this Saturday, November 7, as the island’s popular Line Dancing Day returns for its third edition.

The event, organised by the Consell de Mallorca, will bring together older residents and associations from across the island for a day of music, movement and socialising.

Taking place at the Palacio de Deportes in Alcúdia, the gathering promises plenty of opportunities to get moving, learn new steps and enjoy the company of fellow dance enthusiasts.

A day of dancing and entertainment

Running from 10am until 4pm, the programme will feature a series of line dancing classes led by experienced instructors.

Participants will be guided through different choreographies, with routines adapted to suit those taking part. Whether they already attend regular dance sessions through their local associations or simply want to try something different, the day offers an opportunity to join in.

The morning’s activities will be followed by lunch at 1.30pm, while a musical performance will add to the entertainment.

The event is expected to attract participants from several municipalities, creating a meeting point for groups who share an enthusiasm for dancing.

Bringing Mallorca’s communities together

Beyond the music and exercise, the initiative has a wider social purpose.

The Consell is using the annual gathering to encourage active ageing and strengthen connections between older residents living in different parts of Mallorca.

Line dancing offers a way to combine physical activity with social interaction, helping participants stay active while enjoying a shared hobby.

The island council has invited federations and associations representing older people throughout Mallorca to take part in this year’s edition.

Now in its third year, the event has become another opportunity to celebrate community spirit and the benefits of keeping active later in life.

With six hours of activities planned, Saturday’s gathering looks set to be a cheerful occasion where the emphasis is firmly on participation, friendship and having fun.

For anyone who thinks dancing is only for the younger generations, Alcúdia is preparing to prove otherwise.
