Dog lovers will have to wait another week to give a rescue pooch a morning out after ASOKA Orihuela postponed its charity dog walk. Originally due on November 1, the event has moved to Sunday, November 8, with all three sessions and their original times unchanged.

Charity dog walk moves to November 8

The event will take place at Orihuela’s Animal Protection Centre in San Bartolome.

The times remain unchanged, with three sessions including one specifically for the area’s international community.

A Spanish-language introduction and walk begins at 10:00 AM, followed by an English-language session at 10:45 AM. A third session at 11:30 AM is for those who simply want to take one of the shelter’s dogs for a walk.

The different sessions give both Spanish- and English-speaking residents the opportunity to get involved and learn more about the animals currently being cared for at the centre.

€5 donation helps support shelter dogs

Participation costs a €5 donation, and advance registration is required by emailing asokaorihuela@gmail.com.

The walks give dogs at the shelter a welcome change of scenery and a chance to socialise, while potential adopters can meet the animals and learn more about ASOKA’s work.

For the dogs, the event provides some valuable time away from the shelter environment, while visitors can enjoy a morning outdoors with one of the animals.

The centre is at Camino Lo Arques, s/n, San Bartolome.

Businesses sought for 2027 charity calendar

ASOKA is also seeking businesses to sponsor its 2027 charity calendar.

Advertising costs €35 for a quarter-page or €60 for a half-page, offering local businesses another way to support the organisation and the animals in its care.

Businesses interested in appearing in the calendar can make enquiries by emailing calendarioasokaorihuela@gmail.com.

With the dog walk now rescheduled for Sunday, November 8, supporters still have the opportunity to enjoy a morning with the shelter’s dogs while contributing to ASOKA Orihuela’s work.
