Authentic island rhythms, the smell of traditional street food, and classic American chrome will fill the streets when this popular travelling fiesta lands in La Cala de Mijas. Postponed from its original October dates due to rain, the rescheduled La Pequeña Cuba (Little Cuba) Gastro-Cultural Festival now arrives from Thursday, November 12 to Sunday, November 15 bringing some spice to the town.

Organised by the Asociacion Cubanos Unidos in collaboration with Mijas Town Hall, the free-entry festival transforms the car park by Carrefour Express behind the main Boulevard into a truly tropical treat for all ages.

Savour slow-cooked delicacies and live salsa

Ten colourful stalls will bring you traditional handicrafts and authentic island recipes welcoming visitors throughout the four-day event. Food lovers can look forward to feasting on genuine island specialties, including lechon asado (succulent slow-roasted pork), tender tamales (seasoned corn dough steamed in corn husks), and frituras de maiz (crispy corn fritters).

Freshly mixed zingy mojitos and classic cocktails will keep you refreshed during the non-stop entertainment, featuring live musical performances and DJ sessions from 12pm until midnight on Thursday and Sunday, stretching until the early hour of 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Classic cars cruise into La Cala on Sunday

Motor enthusiasts have an extra special reason to visit on Sunday, November 15, with the debut of the I Concentracion de Coches Clasicos (1st Classic Car Meet). Polished vintage models and iconic cruisers will gather together at the Carrefour Express parking area between 10am and 11:30am for registration.

Spectators can then cheer along the street as drivers roar up their engines and begin their route through La Cala at 12pm before vehicles park for public exhibition from 1pm onwards.

Whether you fancy sipping cocktails to salsa beats or admiring classic vintage motors, or both, La Cala promises a great weekend of community warmth and Caribbean culture.
